Professional Nurse (Specialty Nursing) Pn-b1 (Re-advertisement)
A Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse plus a 1 year post basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing Science. Proof of current registration with SANC.
A Minimum of 4 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Theatre experience will be an advantage. Must be computer literate. The candidate must be conversant with relevant guidelines in the health sector for a mother and child facility including the HIV Guidelines and the data required for maternal and neonatal health.
The professional nurse must provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in decision making, actively participate in morbidity and mortality meetings relevant to the department and act in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child facility.
Good communication skills, verbal and written. Understanding of National Core Standards (Ideal Hospital), able to work under pressure. Must be able to maintain respect and dignity of patients and relatives.
Duties :
Provision of optimal, holistic specialized nursing care with set standards and within a professional and legal framework. Effective utilisation of resources. Participation in training and research.
Provisioning of Support to Nursing Services. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development and always lead by example. Promotion of a scientific, high-quality nursing care that is cost effective and efficient.
