PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To manage research outputs and productivity in line with the NWU strategy for Research and Innovation, provide academic leadership and guidance on post graduate programme development, and joint accountability for the integration of research outputs into Teaching and Learning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• PHD in a relevant field (Science Education and/or Mathematics)
• 6 Years’ Experience as specialist in relevant industry / professional leadership and significant experience in higher education on senior management level.
• Membership of appropriate academic and professional networks
• Professional registration where applicable
• Appropriate academic and professional networks

Functional/technical competencies (knowledge and skills)

• Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
• Thorough knowledge of the RSA Higher Education system
• Well-developed information and communication technology proficiency
• Acceptable management accountancy proficiency
• Acceptable contract development and management proficiency
• Aptitude in managing the research-innovation value chain
