    Professor: Psychology

    Requirements

    • A PhD in Psychology
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a clinical or counselling psychologist
    • A minimum of five years teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
    • Evidence of supervision and training of psychology professionals
    • Extensive publication record, with a minimum of 15 DHET accredited journal articles, book chapters and/or books
    • Evidence of curriculum development and articulation in relevant theories

    Duties
    Duties of a Lecturer:

    • Teaching and Learning: Full involvement in all courses, updating material in par with national and international trends; teaching and evaluation of assigned courses; and identifying at risk students and facilitating, where possible, additional assistance for them.
    • Research: Undertaking discipline related research individually and in project teams; attending and actively participating in national and international conferences; publishing DHET approved journal articles, book chapters and/or books; sourcing research funding; mentoring novice researchers; and supervising Bachelor of Psychology, Psychology Honours and Masters students’ academic research projects.
    • Academic citizenship: Involvement in community engagement, and taking an active role in professional organisations.
    • Professional training: Involvement in the training of students in the B. Psychology and MA Clinical Psychology programmes.
    • Governance: Preparing course outlines and study guides, organising course files, timely delivery of records of all academic activities; and participating in departmental, school and faculty committees.
    • Performance appraisal: Taking part in regular performance appraisal assessments.
