Programme Director (Contract Appointment: One year) (Four Positions): Office of the Dean (Extended Programmes)(Job ID 5783) at University of the Free State

Duties and responsibilities:

• In consultation with the Academic Head of Department (AHD) undertake the following:
• Manage the curriculum processes of the Extended Programme in departments.
• Develop new learning programmes in consultation with stakeholders.
• Ensure frequent and continuous development and management of the operational plan of the Extended Programme.
• Provide general leadership in the Extended Programme and ensure academic coherence across all various modules of the programme, including both BFN and SOUTH campus.
• Ensure that the activities of the Extended Programme are undertaken in accordance with the governance, policy, and regulatory frameworks of the university.
• Assume responsibility for the academic quality of the Extended Programme.
• Manage the academic administration of the Extended Programme.
• Ensure scholarship of high quality.
• Manage matters relating to teaching, learning, and students in the Extended Programmes, including both BFN and SOUTH campus.
• Conduct own research.
• Provide academic advice in terms of academic inquiries, amendments of yearbooks, schedules, timetables, etc. related to the Extended Programmes on both the BFN and SOUTH campuses.
• Serve on the marketing committee of the faculty as necessary.
• Assist with marketing pamphlets or any suitable marketing material.

Inherent Job Requirements:

• An Honours degree on NQF Level 8. 
• Work experience as Academic Coordinator or Facilitator for Extended Programmes or lecturing any module/s in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
• A permanent staff member of  the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS).

Recommendations:

• A master’s degree on NQF level 9.
