Description
dhk is looking for a Project Accountant to join the Finance department in our busy Cape Town studio. If you’re motivated and ambitious, with an innovative approach and a keen eye for detail, get in touch with us.

1. Project Accounting
Take on the role of champion for the project financial management system (Fresh Projects) within the organization
Customising the project management system to suit business needs and developing financial reporting from the system in collaboration with the system software developers in order to streamline financial systems and processes
Assist Team Leaders in preparing project plans
Maintaining and monitoring project plans to drive project profitability
Maintain and update project statuses
Load new projects
Maintain client Masterfile details in the system
Monitoring actual vs projected cost rates
Uploading disbursement expenditure into the system on a monthly basis
Ensuring timesheets are timeously approved and submitted by Team Leaders
Preparing for the monthly Projects Financial meeting and leading the reporting to the management team during the meeting
Preparation of invoices in the system.
Follow up on outstanding debtors
Prepare project recons (actual invoiced to date vs income received to date)
2. Assisting the Head of Finance with financial tasks and reporting as required.
Requirements
Skills and Experience:
B. Com /National Diploma/ Management Accounting qualification.
CIMA qualification or equivalent will be advantageous.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
Previous experience in a project accounting environment
Experience using a project financial management system will be an advantage.
A strong understanding of business and finance principles.
Experience using Xero Accounting would be preferable.
Proficiency in using MS Office, with advanced MS Excel skills and knowledge of pivot tables (formulas, and strong input data, output reporting financial modelling, and interests in macros, VBA, etc)
Ability to prepare, analyse and interpret management reports and financial statements.
Ability to pay critical attention to detail and work efficiently and precisely.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work accurately to meet tight reporting deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively within a team and ability to liaise confidently with all levels within the business.
