    Project Engineer- Electrical- Marine

    To manage and execute electrical engineering tasks related to the maintenance, upgrade, and testing of submarine/Marine electrical systems during a refit, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with naval standards.

    • A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • 5+ years working as an Engineer within an applicable discipline.
    • 3+ years experience as an electronics engineer in the naval environment (submarine-specific experience is desirable).
    • 3+ years experience in mentoring/guiding technical teams desirable.
    • Knowledge of Marine Electrical systems, including alternating current systems and power distribution control systems
    • Report directly to the Client Engineering Department, contributing to the successful delivery of technical deliverables;
    • Be a technical lead within the Submarine/Marine Refit project, primarily focusing on supporting both electrical and electronic systems.
    • Draft, review, and approve repair specifications for maintenance activities
    • Provide mentoring, professional oversight and on-job-training for a team of engineers (in-training or otherwise) and technologists.
    • Assess, document and communicate risks associated with marine electrical alternating current systems and power distribution control systems.
    • Assess, document, and communicate risks associated with submarine mission systems such as: Above Water Sensors, Sonar, Command and Control, Navigation, and Communication.
    • Be responsive to Program and Project Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a dockyard environment
    • Be the system’s technical lead and provide oversight on complex fault diagnosis activities and system operations involving non-standard line-ups or modified configurations.
    • Identify risks, opportunities, and appropriate treatments.
    • Ensure lessons from experience (LFE) are collated and recorded in the management system.
    • Conduct other duties as necessary or as reasonably assigned by project from time to time.
    • Provide technical support with management of suppliers and contractors for spares and services.
    • Monitor quality control/s and adherence to safety protocols
    • Testing & Commissioning.

    Project Set up:

    • Initial site Set up in the Dockyard
    • Information mapping on site, incl libraries, technical reports sourcing and Stakeholder ID ( For info documentation)

    Project Initiation: Working Closely with the Project Team:

    • Project Kick-off and Coordination Mapping
    • Identification of key role players
    • Safety and Security plan
    • Communication plan, Interface plan, RACI
    • Key elements of inspection, acceptance, rejection, or repair of systems and components
    • Establishing a Joint Test Review Group
