Project Manager (Coal mining/ Contracts management/Greenfield project/Botswana based expat) at EarthStream

A leading mining services company is currently looking for a Project Manage to lead a 5-year greenfield coal mining project based in Botswana. This role is suitable for a candidate who has extensive project/contracts management experience within coal mining open pit production. Someone with expatriate experience would be ideal.
Some of the main tasks would including the following:

•       Provide people leadership within projects and manage the project to achieve business unit objectives.
•       Measure and monitor customer satisfaction within a business unit and recommend corrective action.
•       Liaise with a range of customers/suppliers, handle and attend to a range of customer/supplier complaints.
• ·Manage the finances of the project to achieve business unit objectives.
•       Monitor and evaluate team members against performance standards.
• ·Plan strategically to improve overall organisational performance.
•       Identify and interpret related legislation and its impact on the Project and ensure compliance.
•       Analyse qualitative and quantitative data required to inform a strategic Project plan.
•       Strategise, research, develop and review appropriate mining technologies, systems and processes and adopt best practices.
•       Negotiate terms and conditions of sub-contract and supplier agreements (including contract extensions and terminations).
•       Approve and propose subcontractors and suppliers.
•       Develop integrated mining project execution plans and programmes for complex mining projects.
•       Monitor, evaluate and communicate mining project schedules to all stakeholders.
•       Plan daily usage and consumptions (e.g. diesel, GET Load & Haul, GET Drill & Blast, tyres, explosives, etc.)
•       Review all mining project risk assessments and issue site instructions and work permits.
•       Manage documentation and records within the Mining Quality Management System.

The successful candidate will meet the following key selection criteria:       

•       National Diploma / BTech Degree in Civil / Mining Engineering
•       Advance Certificate in Project Management will be an advantage.
•       8 – 12 years’ experience as a Project Manager or related
•       Minimum of 5 years of management of coal mining open pit operation
•       Expatriate experience would be ideal.
