The Project Manger role aligns into the Engineering function and has full accountability to deliver the business objectives of large capital investments. This includes end to end project execution, beginning with feasibility assessments, conceptual and schematic designs, detailed design, procure & construct activities, as well as commissioning and qualification of assets. This job reports into the Programme Manager/ Steering Committee
Responsibilities:
Leading a large project team to meet the business & project objectives and deliverables as outlined in the Business Case and authorization documents.
Establish effective communications within the integrated Project Team to ensure alignment among business and project objectives
Accountable for generating and implementing appropriate project execution strategy for design, procurement and construction.
Lead and organize the Project Leadership Team through the execution of the overall capital project from pre-engineering through design, procure, construct, and ultimately turnover to Manufacturing. Ensures the pre-engineering process is followed consistent with the business needs, all required pre-engineering deliverables are accomplished in a quality manner and leads the project through the authorization process.
Manage project resources (both McCain & Contractors) as needed during the life of the project, to meet the project objectives. Assesses team functional capability, identifies expertise gaps within the project team and solicits the Steering Committee for necessary staffing support
Defines and analyzes Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to ensure overall performance expectations for the project are met and communicates results to the Steering Committee and appropriate functional leaders.
Provides leadership for an effective and cohesive team by ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, team member workloads are reasonable, cross-function communications are adequate, and personality conflicts are managed, for owner and contractor members. Engages outside consultants when needed to support the team.
Ensure overall project expenditures and schedule are aligned with and meet business expectations, accountable for total venture cost and investment. Performs economic evaluations, prepares funding requests, forecasts capital and non-cap expenditures and asset write-offs, and ensures necessary financial reporting and accounting is performed
Provides primary interface between the Project Leadership Team and the Steering Committee and leads all Steering Committee meetings.
Ensures excellence in adherence to process safety management, personnel safety, mechanical integrity and quality, export controls and trade secrets principles, and other core standards, processes, and procedures.
Define engineering plans and programs to maintain operation of new, large assets as part of the 5-year capital planning process.
Maintain technical and operational knowledge of facility environmental compliance, and coordinate with Corporate in maintaining compliance on local requirements regarding hazardous materials, community right to know concerns, process emissions, effluents, and solid wastes management.
Partner with R&D on new products, product developments (both equipment and development), and ongoing efforts
Ensure full compliance with all regulatory programs – environmental, OSHA, etc.
Requirements:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with emphasis in mechanical, electrical, agricultural, civil/structural, or chemical engineering.
Demonstrated Technical/ Functional Expertise which requires extensive experience through assignments in Project Controls and Management, Engineering Design, Procurement, Construction, Contract Administration, Business, and Manufacturing.
Demonstrated capability and senior level experience in executing the development and completion of Capital projects that optimize the supply chain.
Demonstrated track record of achieving business and project results on capital projects.
Significant experience in engineering and maintenance management in the food processing industry.
Willingness to take action beyond specific explicit position responsibilities
