Project Planner & Scheduler - Hillside Richards Bay (Internal/External) at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

• To provide specialist advice and executes tasks in the development and monitoring of plans and schedules baselines, activity completion and identification of trends and corrective/preventative actions to influence on time delivery and project objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Completed N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Civil Engineering / Process Engineering) OR Completed National Diploma (includes completed 1-year Practical Training) in Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Civil Engineering / Process Engineering) with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the heavy industry
• 2 years and more experience in Capital Project Management is essential;
• 3 Year and more experience in scheduling and executing medium to large operational projects within a budget and schedule is essential;
• 2 years and more experience working with a large contractor workforce for the construction of the projects is essential;
• 2 years and more experience working on Microsoft Projects, Advanced Microsoft excel, Project managemt tools is essential;
• 2 years and more experience in the compiling of monthly/weekly reports on project portfolios in line with project governance is essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develops summary and detailed scheduled for a Hillside Capital portfolio by involving the project Engineers;
• Develops baseline schedules and monitor/analyse current schedule against established baseline;
• Develops schedule range model for schedule range/risk and preparing of schedule range/risk report;
• Reviews and provides constructive feedback on contractor schedules and report;
• Identifies activities or sequencing of activities that are material and critical to the project and plant area and effectively communicates these to the appropriate members of the project team;
• Monitors critical path activities on a regular basis and provides updates including possible mitigation efforts that must be undertaken to minimise impacts;
• Develops planned progress curves and analyse monthly progress;
• Validates ongoing implementation of project planning and scheduling to optimise the schedule in response to varying project conditions especially plant readiness;
• Monitor & control integrity of the project systems; update and ensure that the S32 CPS (Capital Portfolio System) is up to date with correct information for monthly reporting to the Global Project Governance team;
• Integrates contractor schedules in to an overall program/project schedule and provides monthly updates against baseline;
• Provides input of projects as well as programs into the development of the Capex Business plan;
• Work closely with the Project Execution Superintendent and Finance Specialist to monitor/control capital expenditure governance.
