Objectives:
The Project Purchaser will be responsible for all project related purchasing activities for renewable energy projects in South Africa or in other countries e.g. in Africa. Reporting to the South African Supply Chain Manager, the Project Purchaser will support the Project Manager, Quality Officer, Construction Manager and other involved departments as required for each project or projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Generally ensure cost-quality optimized goods and services are purchased for our projects, on suitable terms for delivery, cost, payments and quality and to meet project milestones.
Contract Management
- Creation, negotiation and adaption of project related and framework contracts (NDA, MoU, condition, delivery, work and service contracts, etc) in cooperation with related departments, e.g. engineering or legal department
- Documentation of contract negotiations
Risk / process management
- Purchasing-related risk and cost minimization in the project, taking into account the overarching project requirements
- Continuous process and workflow optimization in the project
Reporting and key figures
- Creation of comparisons of offers and price tables, including an award proposal
- Project related cost-reporting based on existing reporting templates
- Recognize and report quality defect, bottlenecks and other deviations and minimize negative effects across departments
Supplier management
- Project-related selection of suitable suppliers and service providers, taking into account the project requirements and the purchasing strategy
- Participation in project-specific qualification of new suppliers and service providers in cooperation with other company areas
- Information to SQM and the respective Lead Buyer about the performance of suppliers in the project in particular as part of the supplier evaluation
Procurement management
- Creating and control of purchase orders
- Handling of project deliveries according to agreed project schedules, incl. logistics and customs related topics
- Managing of deviations in coordination with related departments (e.g. project management, construction)
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in engineering or business administration or comparable qualification
- At least 3 years experience in above mentioned responsibilities in purchasing
- Experience in contract negotiations incl. negotiations with international suppliers
- Combination of commercial and technical understanding
- Preferred experience in handling of Renewable Energy Projects, e.g. photovoltaics and/or battery systems
- Fluent English incl. contractual English
