Project Specialist at Anglo American

Job Description:

As a Project Specialist, some of your duties will include: 

• Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities 

• Develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources in collaboration with sites  

• Facilitate the design and development of project execution plans (PEP) in collaboration with site teams and local stakeholders (i.e., local municipalities and traditional councils)  

• Identify impact and implications of land acquisition, especially on social aspects  

• Ensure all project-related governance is followed in implementing changes during project execution  

• Facilitate decision making related to high impact grievances and communicate with management 

• Manage and deliver projects at multiple customers on time and within budget, report internal and externally on progress  

• Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes  

• Set clear and consistent expectations, encourage individuals and teams to challenge the status quo and strive for improvements; embed expectations through Team+ tool  

This role is in the Corporate Affairs department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Resettlement Project Delivery Manager.  

Qualifications:

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in natural sciences (built environment)  

• Formal Project Management qualification  

 Your experience will include: 

• 7 years related experience in the mining or related project environment  

• Construction management experience will be advantageous  

• Contractor management experience  

• Proficient in designing and managing social improvement projects and must have proficiency in compiling social profiles, social impact assessments  

• Extensive experience in interfacing and influencing colleagues and Senior Management  

• Advanced Knowledge of government socio-economic development plans  

• Proficient in conflict resolution  

• Must have advanced MS office suite
