The role of the Project Manager (PM) will be to support the company’s mission of developing, financing, constructing, and operating Commercial & Industrial solar projects.

The PM role is multi-faceted the primary focus is assisting in planning, delivering, commissioning, and testing of projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. The successful candidate will aid in managing all technical and engineering aspects of project opportunities from inception to construction with limited guidance. The PM will report to the Head of Projects for all phases of the project.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate great attention to detail with excellent project management skills and multi-tasking abilities. The PM will be a consummate team player and be a self-starting, creative, and motivated individual.

Project size would range from 20kWp to 20MWp. You may be required to work overtime to meet critical project deadlines. Candidate should be willing to travel within South Africa, as well as other African countries, with travelling expected up to 50%, depending on project stages.

Position of the job in the organisation:

The successful candidate will report directly to Head of Projects on all project-related matters.

Principal responsibilities:

• Deliver solar projects within budget and to standard.
• Manage procurement for solar projects.
• Execute and manage contracts.
• Understand and manage milestones, scope, schedule and budgets.
• Relationship manages with the various project implantation stakeholders with the company and externally.
• Any other job duties assigned.

PERSON DESCRIPTION 

Experience:

• Must have 2 years of proven engineering experience, with formal Technicon or University qualification(s).
• Minimum of 1 year of project management experience.
• Driver’s license essential.
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Microsoft Projects and an expert, extremely competent in Excel.

Advantageous Skills include:

• Strong knowledge of construction & supply Agreements (e.g., FIDIC).
• Experience in the solar and electrical industry.
• Knowledge of codes and regulations applicable to solar installations.
• Experience using PVSyst, Helioscope or equivalent simulation packages.
