RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading engineering, advisory and technical services firm is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to take on a key leadership role within a major project environment.
This position will act as the Employer’s representative for quality assurance, ensuring that all project activities—from design through to commissioning and handover—meet contractual, regulatory, and industry standards.
The successful candidate will be required to join the client’s team on a Solar PV project in Gauteng for an 18-month fixed-term duration.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the Employer’s Project Quality Plan and overall quality oversight strategy
Ensure that the EPC Contractor and subcontractors adhere to contractual quality requirements, ISO 9001 principles, and relevant industry standards (IEC, SANS, NRS, etc.)
Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) across all disciplines, including civil, mechanical, electrical, SCADA, and grid-related works, ensuring appropriate hold and witness points are defined and implemented
Conduct audits, site inspections, and field verifications to confirm effective quality control practices across all phases of the project
Oversee the management and control of quality documentation, ensuring records such as inspection reports, test results, NCRs, RFIs, and as-built drawings are complete, traceable, and audit-ready
Monitor supplier and vendor quality processes, including audits and inspections, and review key documentation such as factory acceptance test (FAT) reports where applicable
Ensure effective implementation and management of NCR and CAPA processes, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and close-out verification
Review commissioning documentation and test packs, witness critical testing activities, and ensure compliance with performance and acceptance criteria
Verify calibration and control of measuring and testing equipment used in quality-critical activities
Compile and present regular quality reports, highlighting trends, risks, and critical issues to project stakeholders
Facilitate coordination across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure consistent quality standards and effective change control
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Construction Management, Industrial, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
8–10 years’ experience in QA/QC within construction, infrastructure, or energy projects
3–5 years in a quality leadership or management role
Strong experience with ITPs, NCR and CAPA processes, and quality systems implementation
Exposure to supplier quality processes, FAT/SAT, and commissioning quality assurance
Proven experience in document control, audit preparation, and ensuring compliance readiness
