Quality & Regulatory Manager - Johannesburg, Cape Town at Brenntag

The Quality and Regulatory Manager is responsible for guiding and overseeing the Quality & Regulatory team, ensuring adherence to compliance standards and to provide Q&R support services to the business and its stakeholders.

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Management of Quality Systems: Implementing and maintaining Brenntag SA's integrated management systems i.e, ISO 9001/45001/14001 and FSSC 22000, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and GxP guidelines across all sites.
• Certification: Managing certifications i.e., Kosher, Halaal, SABS, Rainforest Alliance, and involvement in sustainability/ethical trade/responsible sourcing initiatives like SEDEX, aligning with customer requirements.
• Leadership in Process Improvement: Leading and supporting initiatives for process improvement and organisational change in Quality & Regulatory.
• Stakeholder Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in responsibility, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Technical Support and Complaint Handling: Supporting the Q&R team in addressing complex technical and quality-related customer inquiries and complaints.
• Audit Management: Hosting customer audits and other third-party quality audits, ensuring compliance and facilitating necessary improvements.
• Supplier and Material Approval: Approving or rejecting new suppliers and signing off on purchasing specifications for new raw materials.
• Inventory Management: Managing non-saleable inventory, including write-offs and disposal, in a compliant and efficient manner.
• Budget: Overseeing the Q&R budget, ensuring effective utilisation of resources and cost-efficiency.
• Team Management: Leading the Q&R team, performance management, training, and development to ensure high competency and effectiveness.
• Reporting: Local and EMEA reporting, providing insights and updates on Q&R activities and performance.
• Represent Q&R at EMEA QSHE meetings, contributing to broader organisational strategies and compliance

YOUR PROFILE

• Matric
• Masters/Bcom Hons Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Pharmacy, Regulatory Affairs/Quality/Food safety, technology
• 5 to 8 years’ experience in Quality assurance/ Food safety/Pharma/Regulatory aspects of chemicals & ingredients distribution
• 5 to 8 years' experience in a function that includes managing complex and/or significant stakeholder relationships.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, both internal and external, relevant to the chemical industry in South Africa.
• Experience Leading & Managing teams.
• Understanding of chemistry and chemical processes, as well as the regulatory implications associated with chemical distribution preferred.
