A vacancy exists for a Radiographer, who will be required to work at all hospitals in East London on a rotational basis, reporting to the Head Radiographer, Leota Blignaut. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing a high-quality service to both Inpatients and Outpatients. This will include General Radiography, Theatre Imaging, Ultrasound, Mammography, and MRI services. The successful candidates will work members of the Radiography Department and multi-disciplinary teams, providing a high-quality Radiography service to patients in assigned areas in accordance with professional standards of practice.
Critical Outputs
Prepare patients for radiology examinations or procedures for which they are scheduled
Prepare the room and equipment required before commencing radiology procedures
Produce accurate radiographic images in the various modalities for which the incumbent is qualified
Work in all areas of radiology as required, including shift work as per roster and overtime when required
Participate in all staff meetings and briefings
Maintain acceptable levels of health and safety, and report all deviation to procedure to Management
Take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures
Report any defects or problems either directly to the RSM or Clinical Specialist in the area where working
Keep up-to-date with current techniques and developments in Radiographic and imaging procedures and to take part in in-service training as required
Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and with non-radiographic staff, both in the radiology Department and in the hospital
Requirements
Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
Be registered with HPCSA
Have at least 3 years general diagnostic radiography experience
MRI experience and mammography experience is an advantage
Both public and private healthcare experience will be considered
Ability to perform weekend work and night shifts
Own transport and a valid driver’s license is essential
Ability to present findings to both medical and non-medical persons
