Registered Nurse | Midwife Qualified at Life Healthcare

Job Summary:

• The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic patient care and contribute to collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders in line with company & hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

• Comprehensive perinatal care to antenatal and postnatal patients and babies, and the management of patients in labour.
• Strict adherence to Mother and Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Policies and Procedures as to support and promote breastfeeding.

Effective cost management for staff and stock by:

• Flexibility in working hours based on activity and acuity in the unit.
• Optimizing stock management by ensuring stock is charged accurately and timeously and expiry dates are monitored and communicated.

Providing quality patient care by:

• Ensuring patient documentation is medico-legally defensible and comprehensive.
• Providing accurate, appropriate and adequate health education to patients and family members during hospitalization and in preparation for discharge
• Ensuring gentle principles are employed in managing the patients’ experience in the maternity Unit.
• Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimize risk
• Conducting effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Identifying private midwives’ / doctors’ preferences and stakeholder’s needs and the implementation thereof in the working environment.

Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Diploma in Midwifery
• Nursing experience in maternity ward with a passion for natural delivery
• Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
• Computer proficiency 
• Must be able to work under pressure in a continuously changing environment
