Investigate the etiology and epidemiology of soilborne diseases caused by soilborne pathogens.
Conduct field surveys of soilborne pathogens.
Conduct glasshouse studies.
Molecular characterization of soilborne pathogens.
Interact with clients.
Compile and manage research budgets.
Prepare proposal and reports for and conduct research independently.
Project administration.
Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific and in popular journals.
Present research results at national/international forums
Assist with organization of scientific events.
Supervise personnel and students.
Requirements
PhD in Plant Pathology.
Research Planning and Management of research projects. At least 3 years' experience in a relevant scientific research environment, post MSc with national record of accomplishment on a level of a Researcher.
A minimum 3 - 5 peer reviewed publications.
Proven record of accomplishment for generating external income.
Proven record for financial management of projects.
Proven track record of supervising/co-supervising other researchers/students.
Record of building national and international collaboration/ networks.
Knowledge and experience in the isolation of soilborne fungal and oomycete pathogens.
Knowledge and research experience in glasshouse and field trials with soilborne fungal and oomycete pathogens.
Knowledge and experience in molecular characteristics of soilborne plant pathogens.
