Residence Inspector (X 3 positions) - Two (2) year contracts - (6775) at Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Job Purpose

• The Residence Inspector (RI) ensures the services within the Residences system are delivered as expected as per University Standards for Student accommodation and Infrastructure functions of the Finance department and frequently provide feedback on services and conditions thereof to ensure the most effective use of resources in the objectives of the department.
• The RI is responsible for providing inspection services on residences services provision and keeping track of each service line on occurrence, basic condition/state, and delivery. Inspectors will record and report on the Service Providers compliance with, and /or closeness to meeting the Gazetted Minimum Norms and Standards for Student Housing.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• Two (2) years relevant working experience in the following fields: Facilities Inspection and/or Health and Safety
• Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Recommendations

• Diploma and/or equivalent in the Built Environment (NQF; Level 6)
• Experience in Technical compliance fields and Property management
• Monitoring and evaluation experience
• Related experience in a Higher Education environment 

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

DIMENSIONS:

Residential Services Delivery Assurance

• Conducts Health and Safety checks/ inspections in all residences
• Conducts Security features checks/ inspection in all residences
• Information Technology as well as Wi-Fi provision, connectivity checks in all residences
• Conduct checks on laundry services and functionality for all residences
• Carries checks on all residences common maintenance and early warning system checks
• Inspects shuttles provision schedule and operations checks
• General Infrastructure and assistance with projects inspections checks

Inspection of State of Services Provision

• Assist the Residence Business Unit with ensuring all services are in reasonable functional state for use by students in each residence by conducting scheduled inspections.
• Checking & Reporting on levels of actual service provision against expected levels and the conditions thereof.

Projects Administration Support

• Assist with residences large scale projects inspections and regular progress checks
• Assist with Residences Occupancy and Data/information collation to maximize efficiency and strategy.

Provide Support on First level risk Identification

• Assist Unit management to perform, observe and collect first level risks data to identify, measure, categorize, rank, and eradicate and/or control the risk to minimum

Draft first level Formal Reports on all Areas of expected Services

• Drafting of formal reports on observations and inspections done fortnightly and where applicable monthly
