• Boxer Superstores, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pick and Pay, is a rapidly growing Supermarket discount chain operating in all provinces throughout South Africa. Owing to our growth we are looking for high energy, self-motivated and dynamic Buyers to join our fast paced Commercial team, based at our Durban Westville Head Office. We are looking for Buyers in various categories.

Job Deliverables

• You will be expected to effectively drive top-line turnover whilst managing gross profit and supplier profitability.

Main Job Functions

•  Supplier trade meetings and negotiations, nationally and regionally
• Negotiate Trading term agreements and promotional grid including but not limited to cycle deals, promotion deals, special deals, price increases, etc.
• Responsible for Sales , Gross profit & Profitability within your category
• Stock management control -Stores and DC
• Promotions, Adverts, Campaigns, Themes, and Supplier Collaboration
• Administration, Reports and Master Data management
• Ranging, Store profiles, Planograms, Categorization and Product mix
• Collaborate with Demand Planning
• Plan the correct lines for adverts and make sure that the return of investment is met.
• Responsible for overseeing the range and appropriate formats as per the company’s generation roll outs.

Qualifications and experience – non negotiable

• A minimum of 5 years current buying experience, ideally in a central or national role within a retail/wholesale/FMCG environment
• Ability to analyse trends, price and market conditions
• Ability to predict promotional impact
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills (Scottwork course advantageous)
• Big picture thinker but with impeccable attention to detail and administration
• Experience in Strategic planning within categories is essential
• 3 year degree in Commerce/Marketing/Supply chain is advantageous
