RF Design Engineer at Communicate Recruitment

• Help design the parts of electronic systems that deal with radio waves and microwaves. This includes things like powerful amplifiers, low-noise synthesizers, converters, receivers, antennas, and filters. These designs will be used on different types of electronic boards and components, and you'll work with a team of experts from different fields
• Build, measure, and evaluate models of these designs, whether they're prototypes or ready for production
• Adapt prototype designs so they can be made on a larger scale in factories
• Use your technical knowledge to assist engineers working on the overall system
• Play an active role in designing the big picture of a system
• Lead the radio frequency part of a project team
• Work with the team to review and improve designs
• Create and keep up-to-date documents, like specifications and test procedures
• Share your expertise through training within the company
• Help and guide your colleagues, including interns, in your field
• Assist in the technical side of creating proposals and quotes for the company's products
• Be part of or lead efforts to improve important technologies used by the company

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in working with radio waves and microwaves, where you've been deeply involved in designing and putting those designs into action. This includes using specific design methods, managing design plans, understanding how all the parts of a system work together, keeping track of changes, making sure things meet quality standards, and being good at using the right technologies and tools
• Knowing how to design antennas
• Showing that you can approach design challenges in a strong and analytical way
• Being skilled in using tools to draw out designs and plan where everything goes on electronic boards (preferably using Altium Designer)
• It's a plus if you're familiar with certain software like Microwave Office, CST, LT Spice, Matlab/Python, and DOORS
• Having practical experience using testing tools like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, noise figure meters, and phase noise meters

Qualification:

• Diploma/Degree in RF Engineering
• Post-grad master's degree or PhD is preferred
• Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
