MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Secondary Education / ABET LEVEL 3/4
• Ride-on-mower / Chainsaw certificate
• 1 - 2 Years Mower & Chainsaw operator Experience
• Mandeni residents will be given first preference.
• Health and safety certificate would be an added advantage

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

• Operation of Mower and Chainsaw — Understanding how to operate different types of mowers and chainsaws
• Brush cutter and tree cutting — knowledge of grass cutter, tree trimming and knowledge of operating mower machine.
• Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) — Awareness of workplace safety rules, PPE usage, and hazard identification.
• Communication Skills — Ability to follow supervisor instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
• Safety Consciousness — Strict adherence to safety rules to prevent accidents

DUTIES:

• Prepares specific sites prior to commencing with maintenance activities mainly cutting and felling of Trees
• Application of Health and Safety guidelines before and after operation
• Operating lawnmower on flat, even surfaces and operating the chain saw when instructed.
• Loading/ unloading equipment, tools and materials and erecting signage where required at site/depot
• Removing of alien vegetation by using backpack sprayer, slasher, bush- knife or brush cutter/chainsaw.
• Pruning trees, turning soil, raking debris by using rake, shovel, hoe or garden fork.
• Reporting verbally to the immediate supervisor on defective/problematic equipment.
• Cleans equipment and attends to the storage and care of cleaning tools,
• Removing and washing off debris from tools, containers and/ or equipment, applying disinfectants and using pressurized cleaning systems (hand held hoses)
• Placing and stacking tools in designated storage areas and/ or verbally reporting the condition/ status of tools to the immediate superior.
