Our client, a leading manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Risk & Compliance Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for leading and managing the Group SHE Management System, ensuring compliance with legal, risk and ISO requirements, maintaining the SHEQ-X management system, and driving continuous improvement across multiple manufacturing and operational facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and drive the Group SHE Strategy and Total SHE Management System in line with business objectives and operational targets.
Lead and maintain the Group SHE Management System on SHEQ-X, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, legal requirements and stakeholder expectations across all sites.
Ensure compliance with all applicable SHE legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), NEMA, ISO standards and other regulatory requirements, while managing MHI and AEL licences, legal registers and legislative updates.
Develop, implement and continuously improve SHE policies, procedures, protocols, work instructions and management systems to support operational excellence and legal compliance.
Act as the management representative for ISO management systems by planning and conducting internal audits, coordinating external certification audits, maintaining audit programmes, verifying corrective actions and leading annual management reviews.
Implement and manage the Group Risk Management Programme by conducting plant risk, hazard, aspect and impact assessments, maintaining risk registers, identifying operational risks and implementing effective control measures.
Establish SHE objectives and targets while maintaining legal trackers, environmental registers, board reports and other SHE management documentation.
Promote a positive SHE culture by facilitating improvement initiatives, supporting manufacturing operations and ensuring a safe, secure and legally compliant working environment.
Conduct and facilitate training on root cause analysis, HIRA, incident investigations, legal compliance and ISO management systems while supporting the development of employees and operational teams.
Manage SHE communication with internal and external stakeholders and drive continuous improvement through the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Develop and enhance incident and accident investigation processes to strengthen risk management and improve SHE performance across the Group.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12.
Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Compliance, or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification.
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a Risk and Compliance or similar role.
Minimum 3–5 years' experience within a manufacturing or automotive environment.
Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), NEMA, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Experience managing SHE management systems, risk registers, audits and legal compliance.
Strong analytical, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Advantageous
ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification.
