Risk / SHEQ Specialist - Ngodwana Energy at Sappi

As a Risk/SHEQ Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and advising O&M and other on-site contractors daily to ensure procedural compliance.
• Conducting compliance audits and inspections, with timely resolution of findings.
• Implementing and managing risk mitigation practices, and reporting on risk monitoring and incidents.
• Overseeing emergency plans, equipment, and risk management during operations.
• Handling environmental legal and permit requirements, and addressing related complaints.
• Representing the company at external forums and communicating with stakeholders on risk issues.
• Managing NAEIS and GHG reporting, and overseeing license applications and renewals.
• Leading sustainability, safety, and community engagement projects, while ensuring up-to-date risk training.

What are we looking for?

• Postgraduate or Honours degree in Environmental or Risk Management.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental/risk management and plant compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and licensing.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
