Route Planner – Thorburn Security Solutions at Thorburn Security Solutions (Pty) Ltd

• We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Route Planner to join our security operations team. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating secure, efficient routes for security personnel and vehicles, including armoured units. The successful candidate will also support operational activities such as crime scene visits and tactical coordination.

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Develop and optimise daily, weekly, and monthly route plans using route planning software.
• Monitor route execution and adjust in real-time based on traffic, emergencies, or disruptions.
• Conduct route risk assessments and implement contingency plans.
• Liaise with control rooms, drivers, SAPS, and other security service providers.
• Analyse route performance data and generate operational reports.
• Support tactical operations and respond to incidents when required.

Skills and Competencies    

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in route planning software, GPS, and GIS tools.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of security protocols and risk mitigation strategies.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

Qualifications    

• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Valid driver’s license.
• PSIRA Registered.
• Regulation 21 Business Competency for pistol and/or shotgun/rifle.
• Cash in Transit and security protection experience.
• Tactical Training and Advanced Driving Skills (anti-hijack, collision avoidance).
• Ability to liaise with SAPS and other security stakeholders.
• Experience in the security industry is advantageous.
• Previously employed by SAPS will be an advantage.
