The primary goal of occupational health and safety is to nourish and foster the work environment for all individuals employed by Bayport.  Keeping everybody at Bayport safe and healthy increases the efficiency and productivity of the entire business and contributes towards the success story of Bayport.

The SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) Officer forms part of the Procurement & Facilities team providing general administration and support to the health and safety manager and team.

• You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability, having consideration for the needs of your colleagues, and Bayport’s customers/clients. You must obey all lawful and reasonable orders given to you and comply with Bayport’s rules, procedures and policies.
• You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with procedures and training provided.

Requirements

EDUCATION

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• National Certificate in Health and Safety Management NQF Level 5, or
• Related NQF Level 5 Qualification relevant to field
• NOSA Health and Safety – SAMTRAC or Legislation Training

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING COURSES

• Relevant certification in Occupational Health and Safety Management (any of the below will be an advantage):
• OSH Act and Regulation
• COID Act
• Emergency Procedures
• Health and Safety Rep
• First Aid Level 1
• Fire Prevention
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Report writing skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential)
