    Sales Engineer Mining, Minerals, Metals

    Job Description

    • In this role you will be working as a Sales Engineer and be the part of the Danfoss Drives Division based in Woodmead, Johannesburg South Africa. The incumbent will report to the Country Sales Manager and be responsible for Sales and Business Development of Danfoss VSDs & Soft starters within South African and Sub Saharan Africa markets in accordance with the Danfoss Business Unit strategy.

    Job Responsibilities
    Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Generating VSD business (volume and profit) from existing and new customers in the Mining, Minerals and Metals verticals.
    • Establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships by understanding customer needs as well as enhancing customer understanding of full product and service offering.
    • Cross-selling and solution finding according to customer needs.
    • Building and managing strong opportunity and project pipelines.
    • Territory and customer/market mapping.
    • Developing channel partners, system integrators, EPC and OEM sales.
    • Identifying and driving the development of new market opportunities in the designated market and ensure cross-collaboration.
    • Preparing sales plans and regular status of potential order shortfalls.
    • Budgeting forecasts and monthly reporting.
    • Managing administrative procedures in all sales processes including preparation of offers in coordination with the Customer Service team by ensuring the appropriate technical and financial aspects of offers, including prices and trading conditions.
    • Collaborating with Marketing to ensure efficient marketing activities, value proposition and brand exposure to customers.

    Background & Skills
    To be successful, you will need to:

    • Hold an Engineering degree or similar technical qualification.
    • Have a minimum of 2-3 experience in a similar position dealing with the specific technical aspects of the job.
    • Have the proven ability to conduct product and solution presentations.
    • Have established networks within the respective industries and have a proven track record with sales in the MMM verticals.
    • Preferably possess good knowledge of variable frequency drives and soft starters.
    • Be willing to travel extensively as/when required.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Skills/attributes

    • Computer literacy including experience on SAP, CRM and advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Effective communication and business acumen.
    • Active team member who can collaborate across diverse markets and forge relationships.
    • Results orientated and customer focused.
    • Proven critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving ability.
    • Strong influencing and negotiation ability.
