Job Description

• The purpose of the SCC Buyer is to select source of supply for RFQ’s as well as negotiating, placing and expediting Purchase Orders for materials required by Debmarine, DBGS, Namdeb and Namaqualand operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Receives, verifies and actions approved purchase requisitions for materials required.
• Identifies and selects appropriate sources of supply.
• Submission of Requests for Quotations (RFQ’s).
• Performs commercial evaluation of quotes received and in consultation with end users should technical input be required.
• Prepares purchase orders based on quotes analysis and end user input.
• Negotiates trade terms and discount structures with vendors.
• Delivers cost savings.
• Expedites transactions to ensure delivery within promised delivery dates.
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships with stakeholders (incl. vendors/suppliers, customers, team).

Qualifications

• Diploma in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management or studying towards it.

Knowledge and experience required:

• Supply chain and purchasing experience.
• Experience in a Marine and/or Mining environment would be advantageous.
• SAP knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
