    School Expedition Field Guide - Limpopo

     About the role

    The goal of the School Expedition Field Guide is to deliver world-leading groups programs in country, by focusing on participant experience, impact, safety, and costs. 

    Role and responsibilities:

    • Responsible for supporting the Head of Groups Delivery or Central Groups Operation Staff in delivering group programs
    • Training of field staff on local context and safety measures.
    • Managing pre-program preparation such as partner visits, third-party audits, and other tasks as needed
    • Delivering exceptional groups programs in line with GVI standards
    • Ensuring all health and safety policies are followed.
    • Leading group activities throughout the duration of groups stay in country
    • Liaising with local partners
    • Facilitating reflection sessions for students throughout the program
    • Delivering presentations and training relevant to the program
    • Collating feedback from participants and teachers
    • Ensuring all equipment is maintained throughout each program
    • Social media responsibilities where relevant, following the measures of our child and vulnerable adult protection policy
    • Managing post-program responsibilities such as financial reports, program reports, incident reports, and other tasks as required
    • Additional responsibilities as required

     Daily Dynamics / Living Conditions
    There is no single description of what a day-to-day looks like since each day has a different agenda. But in any scenario there are the following conditions:

    • Shared accommodation between staff members.
    • Staff to be available to attend to the group needs throughout the duration of the program, which may include evenings or other times outside of the scheduled activities.
    • During the program, staff should refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages for the entire time participants are in the country.

    Professional skills and experience:

    • Guiding qualification such as IFGA, FGASA, or similar (advantage) 
    • PDP certifications.
    • Prior experience running/managing participants on group or individual service or adventure programs
    • Qualifications in one of the following: Emergency first response, Mountaineer, Wilderness Safety or equivalent
    • Local knowledge beneficial
