Plan and coordinate studies/projects in compliance with scientific protocols, ethical guidelines, policies, and procedures as required by the unit (laboratory/community)
Undertake research to identify early biomarkers and risk factors, and develop evidence-based interventions for the prevention of NCDs
Data management and analysis
Develop SOPs
Publications and grant funding
Contributing to SAMRC/NCDRU citizenship
Requirements
3 years’ experience in RNA and microRNA profiling
3 years’ experience in DNA extraction and DNA methylation analysis
Experience in functional gene silencing and overexpression in tissue culture models
Co-author of at least 1 lifetime publications (ISI journal articles, editorials or book chapters and technical reports)
Proven record in presentation at national conferences
Advantageous
Masters degree or higher
Experience and proven track record working in research related to biomarker discovery during pregnancy and the postpartum period
Epigenetic analysis during pregnancy (microRNAs/DNA methylation)
Western blot analysis
At least 1 lifetime ISI journal article as first author
