Section Engineer-Lift II Projects - Electrical & Instrumentation at Palabora Mining Company (PMC)

Key responsibilities will include: 

• Applying rigorous analysis and assessing a wide range of options in conjunction with clients and customers to build the business case for the projects.
• Assisting with defined projects through the full project life-cycle.
• Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and apply best practice.
• Providing engineering and technical support to Project Construction teams as required
• Providing project management expertise for the successful completion of projects
• Communicating regularly with key stakeholders including other groups within PC Group, utilizing expertise and best practice knowledge
• Liaison with statutory and other authority representatives as required to ensure compliance with relevant statutory and legislative provisions.
• Maintaining a high level of customer focus for optimum project delivery.
• Managing the engagement and performance of external contractor and suppliers and monitor the quality and standard of services delivered by external contractors.
• Developing and maintaining effective networks through collaborative relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, including a preparedness to accept technical support from relevant mine planning Specialists.
• Providing leadership through collaboration and Living the Values
• Prioritizing key maintenance areas and implement according to business plan.
• Working closely with Contracts on project contracting plans and optimum outcomes in contracting
• Producing technical reports with recommendations and completing project reviews as required.
• Ensuring technical data including engineering drawings are maintained and kept up to date with site changes as required.
• Preparing and managing project maintenance budgets to achieve business outcomes.
• Managing all compliance related activities by setting and monitoring objectives to ensure standards are met.
• Ensuring that data and documents are properly managed throughout the project lifecycle and that the most updated and complete version is stored in an accessible and secure infrastructure.
• Managing all SHEQ related activities by setting and monitoring objectives to ensure standards are met.

Qualifications & Experience:

• National Diploma/B.Tech/B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Tertiary qualification in project management will be an advantage.
• Government Certification of Competency (GCC) for Mines and Works.
• At least 5 years of experience as an appointed Certified Engineer in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Minimum 5 years’ underground construction experience
