The role:

• Assist with annual Life of Mine Planning and Budget Planning, integration of planning and scheduling with operations and optimisation of reserves and reconciliations
• Provide Technical expertise to production teams and production meetings
• Application of Best Practices
• Assess Risks / Critical points on life of Mine Plan
• Ensure that costs allocated for project mine planning tasks within specified operation are controlled within the prescribed budget

You will need:

• B Eng. /BSc / BTech in Mining Engineering
• Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (MMC)
• Minimum 8 years’ experience with 2 years appointed Mine Overseer in Production and 2 years appointed Mining Activity Engineer
• An in-depth knowledge of legislation relating to the mining industry. E.g., Mine, Health and Safety Act, Chamber of Mines, Environmental Legislation
• An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Operational value chain in Opencast / Underground Operations
• Good knowledge of relevant Planning programmes and Design models
• A good knowledge of Mining, Value Based Management and Asset Optimisation
• Good technical skills in various software packages (especially in Mine Planning)
• Advanced written report skills
• High level of computer literacy
• Valid driver’s license
• In possession or able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

• Masters Mineral Economics
• Masters Mineral Resources
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
