Purpose:

As a Utilities Manager your primary responsibility is to meet the Company’s objectives by ensuring the effective functioning of the Utilities Maintenance Department. This role plays a crucial part in providing plant availability to facilitate the production of vehicles at a high-quality standard and in a cost-effective manner.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Develop and update a maintenance schedule for utility systems.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure minimal disruption during maintenance.
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs.
• Supervise maintenance technicians, providing guidance
• Provide technical support for utility systems.
• Stay updated on technology advancements and implement improvements
• Enforce safety protocols during maintenance.
• Conduct regular safety training for maintenance personnel
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Generate reports on metrics and create documentation for procedures
• Communicate effectively with departments to align on maintenance priorities.
• Collaborate with procurement for spare parts management
• Effectively manage and allocate budgets for maintenance and projects
• Utilize project management skills for end-to-end execution of technical projects
• Identify and address risks in utilities infrastructure
• Collaborate with and support various departments for seamless integration of utilities services
• Resolving utility issues in collaboration with the municipality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum NQF level 7  in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) .
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance.
• Management experience is a must .
• Project Management qualification is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Air Compressors is essential
• Knowledge of Substation Maintenance (up to 11000 Vac) is essential
• Possession of a Government Certificate of Compliance is advantageous.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa)
• Wireman’s license would be advantageous.
