Minimum Requirements

Qualification(s):

•  Grade 12/NCV4/NSC3/N3 and languages/Diploma/Certificate in the relevant function at NQF 4 with 120 credits
•  Hold or have held a Remote Pilot License (RPL)

Related Minimum Experience:

•  4 years’ experience
•  Demonstrate adequate knowledge of the operation of the remotely piloted aircraft systems.
•  Have acceptable oversight experience in a flight operations department or acceptable alternative experience.
•  Be able to demonstrate knowledge to the Director of Civil Aviation of the content of this operation manual, the RPAS operator certificate and operations specifications, as well as those provisions of the regulations and technical standards necessary to carry out his duties and responsibilities to ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities

•  Legal compliance to optimise asset utilisation.
•  Manage flight and ground operations to optimise asset utilisation.
•  Manage the training requirements for RPAS.
•  Responsible for the RPAS emergency response plan.
•  Manage the processing of requests for services.
•  Manage the departmental budget and assets pertaining to RPAS.
