    Senior Analyst Collections and Fraud

    MAIN PURPOSE

    To optimize overall business profitability through analytics and sound business rationale. Effectively manage credit exposure and identify opportunities to improve collection performance using best practice processes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Strategy development, implementation, tracking and analysis:

    • Analyse the performance to gain insight
    • Document, recommend and present results/findings
    • Design improved strategies / processes that will outperform previous strategies / processes
    • Prove the business effectiveness and/or efficiency of analytically-driven implementations
    • Recommend and implement appropriate champion / challenger strategies to continually “test and learn” to improve portfolio profitability

    Forecasting and MI production:

    • Forecasting of key metrics relating to portfolio and operations
    • Timeous and accurate production of MI reports to track performance and explanation of variance to business forecasts
    • Make appropriate recommendations to address unfavourable variances

    Lead Specific Analytical Projects

    • To align to operating plan objectives for the CRO agenda:
    • Develop and drive project plans for major initiatives including securing resources to ensure its on-time, within budget and to-quality implementation.
    • Prove the business effectiveness and/or efficiency of analytically-driven implementations (Post Implementation Reviews).
    • Based on proven results or convincing analytical prediction, recommend and implement appropriate champion / challenger strategies to continually “test and learn” to improve portfolio profitability.
    • Coach and mentor Junior Analyst.             

    Stakeholder management:

    • Align CRO implementations to resourcing requirements to ensure they are on-time, within budget and to the required standards.
    • Effectively integrate with ABSA, Barclays and WFS departments to ensure implementation practicality and business quality as appropriate.                      

    Quality and Governance Standards:

    • Oversee and ensure that analytics are performed to the required standards.
    • Ensure awareness, adherence and compliance to the Retail Credit Policy and other related policies and procedures.

     

    FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

    • Knowledge and application of credit scoring and risk management techniques across the entire credit life cycle on consumer portfolios.
    • Proven ability in analytics, business acumen and presenting / communicating recommendations across all organisation levels.
    • Ability to work with diverse teams to ensure effective implementation of projects.
    • Understanding of financial metrics in relation to portfolio management and the associated forecasting thereof.
    • High proficiency in SAS (intermediate or advanced level) or equivalent structured language analytical software.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.), ideally using macros.
    • Ability to cross check data integrity after an initial validation exercise.
    • Comprehensive understanding of portfolio fields and data relationships in order to improve the analytical recommendations.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

    • University degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Risk Management or equivalent. 

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • More than 5 - 10 years analytical experience on a consumer portfolio (loans, credit cards, private label cards, etc.) in either growth or collections strategies
    • Proven collection and recovery strategy development and implementation experience in unsecured products
    • Proven strategy development and implementation experience using credit scores, bureau scores and segmentation analytics on consumer portfolios.
    • Experience in working in an outsourced environment and effectively implementing solutions using both internal and external resources.
    • Experience in data manipulation and application of statistical methodology.
