Senior Android Developer (6 Month Renewable Contract) at DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd

Role Requirements:

• Must be available for an immediate start
• 5+ years of Android development experience, preferably in a senior capacity.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and high-performance mobile applications.
• Proven experience in the financial services industry.
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development lifecycle.
• Experience in benchmarking, performance tuning, and optimizing mobile applications.
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Understanding of emerging mobile development trends and architectures.

Technical Skills Required:

Android:

• Proficient in Java and Android SDK. Knowledge of Kotlin and Android Compose is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of dependency injection (Dagger) and multithreading.
• Proven working experience in developing Android apps, with at least one app deployed to the Google Play Store.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs (JSON) for backend integration.
• Experience with cloud messaging APIs and push notifications.
• Proficient in Git and continuous integration tools like Azure DevOps.
• Unit testing frameworks experience.

iOS (Optional/Advantageous):

• Proficient in Swift and Cocoa Touch.
• Experience with Core Data, Core Animation, and SwiftUI.
• Exposure to Objective-C is a plus.

Role Responsibilities:

• Define and maintain development standards and guidelines for Android applications.
• Investigate new technologies, methodologies, and strategies to optimize performance and development processes.
• Develop and maintain guidelines, tutorials, and internal documentation (wiki).
• Guide and mentor junior and intermediate developers.
• Collaborate with the team to design and implement new features, ensuring performance, quality, and responsiveness.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks and crashes in the application.
• Help maintain high code quality and implement automation within the organization.
