About the role

We are looking for back-end developers with a strong sense of team, fantastic self-discipline, and work ethics to join our already amazing team here at IO. We build beautifully designed digital products for startups and clients, and we build them to exceptional standards. As a senior back-end developer at IO, you will be creating powerful, flexible, scalable APIs and developing various backend systems and operations. Additionally, you will architect, define and maintain our database and models, and ensure our systems can keep up their high performance and responsiveness.
You will be responsible for implementing new features and integrations as well as supporting our existing functionality. You will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on our stack and the future of development in IO.

Our ideal candidate has...

• A minimum of 5 years of full-time industry experience as a software developer (preferably using all or most of these - Laravel / PHP, RESTApi, MySQL and PostgreSQL)
• A passion for code quality and standards
• The ability to respectfully review code and be a mentor to other developers
• A good understanding of a DevOps culture
• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience with TDD principles
• Extensive PWA development knowledge
• Proficiency in database design, optimisation and tuning, specifically MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in GitLab or a similar GitOps tool
• Exposure to Docker, AWS and GCP
• Experience working on an Agile team, specifically the Scrum framework

Note
We do use other backend languages on product development teams in IO, i.e. Firebase. Openness to take on a new skill will go a long way in IO.
