Senior Business Analyst and Training LeadCIO: ICT Services at Nelson Mandela University

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

• To direct and manage user support, render administration and training services for the evolving ERP systems (ITS) and business processes which entails business process evaluation, gap analysis, adoption of processes, project management and building internal and external relationships with business users, service providers and auditors.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Direct and manage user support and training of ERP systems.
• Direct and manage ERP business process improvement in liaison with NMU colleagues and service providers.
• Manage projects and programs as required by the NMU
• Manage system testing and performance with regards to ERP systems.
• Change management and controls for ERP systems

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Manage the Change Request Management (CRM) system for ERP problems reported.
• Investigate system errors and requests for added functionality to the ERP systems.
• Advise and consult with managers on the use and functionality of the ERP systems
• Development of appropriate training material for the ERP systems.
• Manage and implement effective monitoring systems to identify where user training is needed.
• Arrange and manage regular training sessions for users.
• Perform regular audit checks on validity of user access rights and ensure that key users of the ERP system have the appropriate access, especially to sensitive data.
• Identify key business process improvements and develop proposals for improving business efficiency and effectiveness through appropriate use of ICT solutions.
• Define and document the business requirement/needs according to NMU ICT standards.
• Analyse and translate the business requirements into a functional specification.
• Facilitate a negotiated agreement for the development of the functional specification with Development section/ Service provider.
• Effectively manage, communicate and document the business analyses processes until sign-off by all relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in external conferences in South Africa and internationally, regarding enhancements and critical issues reported to the ERP systems and advise management of any business process improvements.
• By completing the projects on budget and on time.
• Liaise with users and service providers about resources and time schedules for project execution.
• Effectively manage, communicate, and document the project proceedings and processes until sign-off by all parties.
• Provide regular feedback on project progress to relevant stakeholders.
• Manage compliance of the ERP system with NMU policies in conjunction with service provider and/or ICT Development section and/or system engineers to resolve any issues.
• Audit ERP access to sensitive data in conjunction with management.
• analyses, testing, implementation, roll-out and training to sign-off by relevant parties.
• Liaise between different parties and manage process efficiently.
• Use project management processes and IT policies where relevant.

Requirements

• M + 4 Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science
• 3 - 5 years relevant working experience.
