Senior Civil Tenderer/Quantity Surveyor - Construction Industry
RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established construction company in the Western Cape is currently seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Tenderer/Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team and play a critical role in securing and delivering successful projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and submission of competitive civil tenders
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents
Prepare detailed BOQs and cost estimates using industry-standard software
Engage with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and quotations
Identify and evaluate tender risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders during tender clarification stages
Attend tender briefings and site visits as required
Manage all commercial aspects of awarded projects
Monitor project costs and budgets, reporting on cost variances and profitability
Prepare and submit monthly valuations, progress claims, and variation orders
Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and procurement terms
Ensure compliance with contract conditions and company policies
Support project teams with financial planning, forecasting, and cost reporting
Requirements:
National Diploma in Building/BTech in Quantity Surveying/Civil Engineering or similar
Minimum 15 years of experience in civil construction, with a strong track record in tendering and quantity surveying
Proven experience in earthworks, bulk services, stormwater, pipelines, or related civil infrastructure
Excellent understanding of local construction regulations, SANS standards, and contract law (e.g., JBCC, GCC, FIDIC)
Proficiency in estimating and QS software (e.g., CCS Candy, WinQS, BuildSmart)
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Ability to lead and mentor junior staff
Driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites when required
