Senior Consultant - Liability Portfolio Management (Mid-Senior Level) at Environmental Resources Management (ERM)

• ERM is seeking a Senior Consultant with Project Management experience to join our Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation technical team in South Africa. In this role, you will provide project management and senior/principal technical assistance on site investigation, remediation, and environmental construction projects for clients locally and nationally.
• As a senior consultant and project manager, you will contribute your leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the Durban area, while networking with ERM's global Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) technical team and technology experts to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and provide technical expertise on site investigation and remediation projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in the oil and gas, mining and manufacturing sectors.
• Design and negotiate remedial solutions for contaminated soil and groundwater, using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems.
• Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope /budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables across ERM’s LPMR service line [e.g., site redevelopment, site investigation and remediation, risk assessment, site closure and decommissioning].
• Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams, training and mentoring junior staff.
• Coordinate with ERM offices globally on national and international project delivery.
• Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business to grow the LPMR service area in Durban.
• Prepare technical proposals, participate in business development with existing clients, and identified leads.
• Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.
• Understand and work within ERM’s processes and procedures, adhering to all ERM policies.
• Understand and align with ERM’s vision and values, including ERM’s diversity and inclusion culture.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of an Honours Degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related discipline (Master's Degree is preferred).
• Professional Registration with SACNASP
• 8 years consulting experience working with significant industrial clients on complex site investigation/remediation projects.
• Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business, including established contacts in oil and gas and manufacturing sectors.
• Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
• Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate, with proven negotiation skills with local and national regulators.
• Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the local marketplace.
• Have a valid driving license and be able to travel locally and nationally as required.
