The Company seeks a suitably qualified and experienced Senior C&I Engineer, reporting to the HOD – E&I. The successful candidates will join a multi-disciplinary team and will take on responsibility for developing solutions, studies, planning, estimating, design and calculations, specifications and data sheets and checking.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design and calculation generation
- Generate and compile engineering and equipment Specifications
- Generate and/or manage the drafting of instrumentation drawings to support the instrument design
- Assist with plant layout design and co-ordination of drafting resources in the preparation of drawing
deliverables
- Review and assist with the generation of process documentation such as piping and instrumentation
diagrams, control philosophies and functional specifications.
- Generate and review control and instrumentation engineering documentation for projects and studies.
- Review, evaluation and selection recommendations for vendor equipment.
- Review of vendor certified documentation (drawings, data sheets, manuals, etc.) and responsibility for
the dissemination of vendor information to discipline engineers / drafting resources for interface checking.
- Provide material quantity take-offs, as and when required.
- Assist with on-site engineering, commissioning and administration activities.
- Database management.
- Conduct literature surveys.
- Prepare and issue meeting minutes as requested.
- Compile man-hour and capital estimates for projects and studies.
- Lead discipline reports directly under your control on a project by project basis.
- Manage sub-consultants on a project by project basis.
Qualification and Experience
- Tertiary level qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with a specific focus on Control
System design and instrumentation engineering.
- More than five years relevant experience post graduating.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
- Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
- Demonstrate ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific proprietary software packages relevant to the Engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of Siemens, Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi PLCs and associated hardware would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Fieldbus and Industrial Communication protocols such as Profibus DP/PA, Profinet and
Ethernet/IP would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of PLC and SCADA software development would be advantageous.
- Experience with design packages such as InTools, Bentley or DesSoft would be advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of minerals processing.
- Prior experience in Control and Instrumentation design, procurement, installation/construction
- commissioning and operations of all related C&I systems/components required.
- Ability to review and provide input on Electrical Engineering documentation and drawings (such as
control schematics) would be strongly advantageous.
