Senior Developer at Salt South Africa

• This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, takes ownership of what they build, and is comfortable working across both traditional code and configurable / low-code tooling to deliver practical, scalable solutions.

The Opportunity

• You’ll work on building and evolving internal platforms that support risk, compliance, and operational workflows. The focus is on creating secure, reliable systems while balancing speed of delivery with long-term maintainability.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and improving backend and frontend functionality
• Developing and integrating services via APIs
• Working with data-driven systems that require a strong focus on security and privacy
• Prototyping and refining workflows and internal tools
• Contributing to system design decisions and technical improvements
• Collaborating closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers

What My Client Is Looking For

• 4+ years’ experience as a software engineer
• Strong experience with Node.js and React
• Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience with containerisation and modern development practices
• Comfortable working in agile environments
• Exposure to regulated or security-conscious systems is highly beneficial
• An interest in building tools that enable others to work more effectively

Nice to Have

• Startup or scale-up experience
• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
• Exposure to automation, analytics, or workflow tooling
