Purpose Of Role
Looking for a young tech savvy Mechanical / Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic Research & Development team in the furnace / smelter sector. Must be motivated to work in an international and challenging environment. Your role will be to:

• Develop new and innovative products and solutions
• Develop new equipment and plant designs pertinent to the companies South Africa’s technology
• Assists with ensuring the technical competence of solutions offered to clients
• Assists with resolution of project technical problems

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Prepare and legitimise technical solutions with clients
• Compare and prepare technical offers based on clients’ specifications and requirements
• Assist in the technical aspect of proposals and studies
• Participate in feasibility studies and other Engineering related studies
• Perform tests and modelling of new developments
• Provide input on conceptual furnace designs for new applications
• Develop & assist in the patenting of new furnace components and equipment
• Provide consulting support and problem solving solutions to internal and external clients
• Prepare budgets for development projects, proposals and feasibility studies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Engineering Degree
• Experience in a research and development environment will be advantageous
• FEA / CFD modelling will be advantageous
• Smelting/Furnace knowledge will be advantageous
• Technical knowledge (Mechanical/Electrical)
• Knowledge of plant process flow diagrams
• Working knowledge of plant commissioning
• Understanding of I.o.T and digitalisation in relation to engineering
