Senior Devops Engineer 

• A leading market financial solutions provider is looking for a Senior Devops Engineer The DevOps Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the in house developed software and related cloud infrastructure globally. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the Company`s application and infrastructure space. The successful candidate ensures that the development and running of the application, security, cloud and hardware stack operates optimally as well as adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners.
• This staff member will assist project and development teams globally with the initiation, planning and implementation phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis, development and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle. The prospective candidate should have some development software exposure and worked with Developers.

Engineering and Provisioning

• Design and manage a robust DevOps platform/Environment including:
• Engineering of solutions for various project and operational needs.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards.
• Research and recommend, innovative, and, where possible, create automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Be part of the development of our in-house banking application.
• Be part of the security design of the devops and banking platform.

Operations and Support

• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of servers resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
• Provide Tier III or other support per request from various constituencies.
• Investigate and troubleshoot application related issues.
• Regularly Liaise with Development teams in Africa, UK and South America and India.
• Regular patching of the automation tools, cloud infrastructure, development tools, Container Environments, In House Developed Software.
• Health Monitoring off automation tools, cloud infrastructure, development tools, Container Environments, In House Developed Software.
• To lead with allocated DevOps Project

Maintenance

• Maintain the DEVOPS environment including but not limited to the automation tools, cloud infrastructure, development tools, Container Environments, In House Developed Software.

Education, skills and specialist knowledge required
Essential Experience

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
• More than 2 years in a similar role
• Advance Linux administration skills on RHEL or CENTOS.
• Linux administration skills on RHEL or CENTOS - Advanced.
• Openshift experience – Intermediate.
• Database experience on MySQL or any database derivative through administration and writing sql queries - intermediate.
• Container experience on docker and container orchestration platforms– Intermediate.
• Shell, Python scripting experience – Intermediate.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (built and managed) on any of the following: AWS, Azure – Some exposure.
• Git or SVN – Some exposure.
• Automation experience (Pupper/Ansible etc)– Intermediate Experience.
• Intermediate understanding of networks, vlans and 3Tier applications.
• Exposure to software development – Some exposure.

Advantageous Skills

• Any Cert after the RHCE cert
• NGINX/Apache experience – Intermediate experience.
• Ansible or Openshift certified
• Middleware and java container experience such as JBOSS, Tomcat, and Glassfish implementation, configuration and maintenance.
