    Senior ICT Administrator

    Description    

    • The Senior ICT Administrator contributes to the provision of effective and efficient IT systems to the school and is the source of first-line support for the hardware, software, and network of the school. The role supports teaching and learning by ensuring that ICT services are reliable, secure, well maintained, and available to staff and learners.
    • Only short-listed applicants will be contacted and invited to an interview, taken on a tour of the school and expected to complete a test of technical ability.  We reserve the right not to fill the post.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot all hardware and infrastructure, including workstations, laptops, servers, printers, copiers, projectors, and network devices.
    • Assist with the maintenance and administration of the school’s server infrastructure and related cloud services.
    • Maintain a hardware inventory and maintenance log.
    • Make repairs and undertake preventative maintenance.
    • Assist the ICT Manager in supervising contractors.
    • Install, maintain, update, and troubleshoot all software used by the school.
    • Maintain an up-to-date library of software licences held by the school.
    • Back up servers and data according to agreed schedules & restore data from backup as required.
    • Create and manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions, as well as user, security, distribution, and related groups.
    • Manage Wi-Fi device registration and DHCP assignments to mobile devices.
    • Monitor and address outages, performance, and related service issues.
    • Provide first-line support to staff and learners for ICT-related queries.
    • Promote responsible and safe use of technology among learners and staff.
    • Escalate unresolved or high-risk technical issues to the ICT Manager.
    • Assist with the management of the learner AVT, Audio-Visual Team, which may include supervision during evening and/or weekend events.
    • Assist, when the learner AVT is not available, with the setup, operation, and breakdown of audio-visual equipment at school events, including possible evening and/or weekend events.
    • Assist the ICT Manager in supervising ICT and Audio-Visual staff.

    Minimum Requirements    
    Educational Requirements

    To perform effectively in a school environment, the following educational requirements are recommended:

    • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is essential.
    • Industry certifications would be advantageous, such as:
    • Microsoft 365 / Azure Administrator or Endpoint Administrator.
    • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
    • ITIL Foundation or equivalent IT service management qualification.
    • Completion of school-specific induction training would be advantageous, including:
    • Child safeguarding / child protection.
    • Data privacy and acceptable use of school systems.
    • Health and safety requirements for events and equipment setup.

    Work Experience

    The following experience is required for this position:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ICT support, systems administration, or network administration is essential.
    • Experience working in a school or educational environment is highly advantageous.
    • Practical experience supporting:
    • Windows, Linux and/or macOS devices.
    • Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace for Education.
    • Active Directory / user account management.
    • Network troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, DHCP, and basic switching.
    • Backup and restore procedures.
    • Hardware, software, and asset management.
    • Experience supporting audio-visual equipment and school events is advantageous.
    • Experience with Interactive Teaching / IOT and Device support, maintenance, repair or servicing is advantageous.
    • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff, interns, or learner technical teams is advantageous.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users.
