Handle client relationships and provide insight into sector developments in client countries to anticipate new investment opportunities and/or performance issues;
Identify and analyze fundamental competitive strengths and weaknesses of investment opportunities or portfolio companies and identify financial and nonfinancial issues, opportunities and risk/reward factors (e.g. business environment, country, and sponsor)
Structure, negotiate and execute new transactions, portfolio restructurings, rescheduling, capital increases, equity sales, etc.;
Lead and manage project teams, mentor and develop junior staff; and
Coordinate closely with social, environmental, and advisory colleagues to add value to our clients'businesses and achieve sustainable development impact.
Selection Criteria
MBA or equivalent qualification;
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience covering the financial sector, preferably in an investment related function;
Excellent understanding of financial and operational characteristics of financial institutions;
Experience in emerging markets;
Sound client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on client needs;
Strong financial and credit skills and demonstrated ability to structure a variety of complex financial instruments (debt and equity);
Sound business judgment and strong problem solving/negotiation skills, as well as ability to work effectively on simultaneous projects under time pressure;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French or Portuguese a significant plus;
Ability to mentor junior investment staff;
Genuine interest in development finance and working in a multicultural environment
