    Senior Laboratory Analyst - Durban

    What You Have Done Before

    Baseline:

    • Relevant Chemistry Diploma or Degree and at least 2 years experience.
    • Exceptional computer skills. 
    • Good customer service skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret analytical results.

    Advantageous

    • B-Tech qualification in Chemistry or Quality.
    • Preferred 3 years’ experience in the Lubricants and chemicals environment. 
    • Proven knowledge of ISO 9001 and 17025.
    • SAP experience

    • Meeting customers’ analytical demands and expectations.
    • Implementation of changes in supporting ISO 17025 changes/requirements.

    • Operating specialized laboratory equipment.
    • Product development in conjunction with product technical advisors.

    • Prepare for laboratory audits and assist in closing out findings.
    • Ensure compliance to all Engen mandatory policies and procedures by working. with updated lab procedures & work instructions.
    • Being involved in SAP changes. 

    What You Will Be Doing

    Product Testing

    • Testing samples as per procedures and meeting service level agreements.
    • Producing accurate and reliable results.
    • Communication of results to the various customers.

    Expense Control

    • Preventative maintenance of equipment.
    • Basic troubleshooting.
    • Control breakages & chemical usage.

    Equipment management 

    • Equipment usage and availability. 
    • Equipment needs identified, reported, and documented. 
    • First line troubleshooting. 

    Quality Management 

    • Compliance to data integrity, precision, and accuracy requirements.
    • Participation in proficiency testing programmes.
    • Participation in the statistical quality control programme.
    • Participation in training and skill competency reviews. 
    • Identification of deviations from the management system, procedures, or laboratory activities. 

    Staff Training and development 

    • Coaching and development of other laboratory staff on laboratory practices and procedures. 

    Quality Results 

    • Ownership of manufacturing product right first time. 
    • Method Modification, development, and validation of new methods. 

    Laboratory Maintenance 

    • Adhering to laboratory safety rules. 
    • Ensuring good housekeeping.

    Working hours

    • LOBP working hours apply.
    • Working overtime as and when required.
    • Working shifts as and when required.
