    Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor In Archaeology (1 Post) School of Geography, Archaeology and Enviromental Studies

    Brief Description        

    Minimum qualification/requirement

    • A PhD in Archeology
    • A senior archaeologist with an active research program
    • Senior-level publication output, UG teaching experience, PG supervision, fundraising, and administrative portfolio management.
    • The temporal focus for this post is from the Late Pleistocene to the Holocene, but research focusing on the Later Stone Age is preferred.
    • Specialisations for this position would incorporate modern quantitative methods and include (in order of preference) lithic analysis, residue analysis, ceramic analysis, archaeometallurgy, and curation and materials conservation.
    • Experience in teaching undergraduate courses face to face and online
    • A research track record of publications and postgraduate student supervision
    • Ability to attract independent research grant funding.
    • Excellent oral and written skills in English
    • Valid driver’s license (at least code B)

    Key Performance Areas

    The candidate is required to:

    • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Archaeology.
    • Postgraduate supervision
    • Administration of academic functions
    • Contribute to academic citizenship activities to enhance the archaeology profession.
    • Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques to stimulate students' interest and enhance the student experience.
    • Promote graduate studies and maintain active research in the Archaeology field.
    • Contribute to strengthening the archaeology programme in the school, such as course development, course assessment and curriculum review.
    • Participate in the school and university committees as appropriate.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
