Senior Lecturer_ Dept of Social Work & Social Development at University of Cape Town

REQUIREMENTS:

• Registered as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SASSCP)
• A PhD in Social Work with a focus on correctional/prison social work, or probation work and/or forensic social work. 
• Demonstrable and relevant experience in teaching and research at an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Experience in teaching and supervision of Postgraduate students.
• Evidence of scholarship and social responsiveness contribution in applied social work in the fields of criminal justice, violence and crime.
• Publication(s) in Centre of Higher Education (CHE)accredited peer reviewed journals 

 THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ADVANTAGEOUS:

• Experience in convening undergraduate and postgraduate courses
• Experience in Probation Work
• Experience in teaching Probation Social Work
• Evidence of Curriculum Design at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Evidence of conference participation, collaboration and networking
• Evidence of ongoing and active research and scholarship in the field of criminal justice, crime and violence

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

• Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Convening undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programmes
• Contributing to departmental, faculty and university administration appropriate to the level.
• Participating in all departmental Research Ethics and Masters/PhD by Research Committees
• Participating in Faculty and University committees
• Ongoing scholarship and social responsiveness work in their field of expertise
