    Senior Lecturer in Political Studies - (2094)

    The successful candidate for Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Studies will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Facilitate learning, especially through lecturing, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Political Studies, particularly International Relations, Comparative Politics or Research Methodology
    • Conduct research and publish in Political Studies
    • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
    • Provide academic leadership and administration
    • Undertake curriculum development and assessment
    • Participate in community engagement and outreach
    • Contribute to a stimulating and collegial departmental culture of engaged scholarship

    Minimum Requirements

    • Doctoral qualification in the field of Political Studies
    • Demonstrated experience in lecturing Political Studies, preferably in the field of International Relations, Comparative Politics or Research Methodology
    • A record of publications (including articles in peer-reviewed academic journals), preferably in the field of International Relations or Comparative Politics
    • A record of successful supervision at Honours and Masters level
    • Demonstrated competence in community engagement

     Added advantages:

    • Supervision experience at Doctoral level
    • Demonstrated experience in academic leadership and administration

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Presentation and facilitation skills
    • Adaptability and the ability to operate in a diverse environment
    • Student focused approach
    • Planning and organisational skills, including time management
    • Computer literacy and e-learning skills
    • Technical professional knowledge and skills in the discipline and in the core strategic areas, namely learning and teaching, research and scholarship, community engagement as well as professional leadership
