Senior Maintenance and Process Controller at Exxaro Resources

Job Advert Summary

PURPOSE:

To ensure process control and efficient operation of section of major plant (plus normally coordinating/instructing other lower level operators). To maintain assets, equipment and infrastructure. To coordinate Process Controllers, operate, judge, integrate and control process to ensure production targets (quality and quantity) are met.

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
•    N3 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
•    Certificate Basic Coal Preparation (Essential/Minimum)
•    Trade: Millwright MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE: 

 3 years  Applicable technical and maintenance experience within a heavy industry/production/mining environment  (Essential/Minimum)    Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 

•    Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
•    Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
•    Pub Driv Lic:Code B (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities

Effective People Management

•  Support development and implementation of systems and initiatives to drive performance excellence for discipline
• Create, inspire and lead high-performance teams in discipline
• Implement successful change initiatives in discipline
• Coordinate optimal utilisation of resources for discipline
• Formal and informal mentorship of individuals in discipline

Process Control  

•  Monitor process, conduct inspections and rectify sub-standard performance or conditions
• Control quality of feed
• Physical and chemical process control
• Perform basic production maintenance tasks on plant electrical and mechanical systems
• Control dispatch of products within designated area
• Control on dewatering equipment
• Assist with monitoring and implementation of new procedures and Processes

Process Optimisation  

• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Inspect, repair and maintain assets, equipment and surrounding infrastructure
• Ensure optimal use of available resources, both people and equipment
• Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area
• Complete, process and update all maintenance records and related documentation
• Oversee, assist and support maintenance jobs of support personnel
• Perform basic production maintenance tasks and maintenance support during breakdowns and shutdowns

Safe and Healthy Work Environment  

• Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) and technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times

Technical Support    

• Inspect, monitor and maintain various types of plant metallurgical equipment and machinery to ensure optimum performance
• Assist with plant daily reports
• Communicate effectively with, and assist line Supervisors or Foremen and related plant and mine personnel with ad hoc activities
• Render general assistance and support with regards to waste removal
• Clean equipment safely
• Conduct inspections to ensure safe operations and to prevent blockages, stoppages, defects, malfunctions, breakages
• Maintain and conduct technical testing of equipment
